Use it when: Weekend or evening research, and any time a name is moving on flows rather than fundamentals.

• 1. The chart with the short-positioning stack: short interest, the daily short-volume map, Reg SHO status, fails-to-deliver. That is squeeze mechanics from four angles.
• 2. Ownership and activist stakes for who holds it, and who has announced they intend to change it.
• 3. Insider activity for what the people inside are doing, and capital returns for what management is doing with the balance sheet.
• 4. COT and fund leverage last - the two aggregate positioning reads on the board.

The tell: High short interest is not a squeeze. High short interest with the shares on the Reg SHO threshold list and fails building is a squeeze setup, because at that point covering is mechanically forced rather than optional.
