Use it when: When a heavily-shorted name is moving and you need to know whether covering is forced or optional.

No index read. Squeezes are a small-cap and mid-cap phenomenon and this board is arranged for those names.

• 1. The short-sale heat map and Reg SHO status first: daily short volume, and whether the name is on the threshold list with the uptick rule live.
• 2. Fails-to-deliver next - persistent fails alongside a threshold listing is the mechanical part of a squeeze.
• 3. Trading halts and the catalyst feed for what is actually driving it, then the chart for where it is.

The tell: Short interest is a stock of positions; the heat map and the fails are the flow. A squeeze is what happens when the flow has to reverse on a schedule somebody else set, and that is what Reg SHO and the fails tell you.
