voice trading terminal
Sharpnel is a futures terminal with a voice. Her name is Pharos. Leave the terminal on a second monitor and she speaks when something meaningful happens, and stays quiet the rest of the time: the megacaps pulling away from the index, the third push into the call wall that still has not gone through, bids outweighing offers six to one, the London low taken out, CPI sixty seconds away. You do not have to learn to read a depth ladder to get what a depth ladder knows.
The problem
A customer wrote to me on his way out: he was excited when he subscribed, opened the terminal, and there was so much on screen he could not read any of it. He was not wrong. The terminal is dense because I built it for myself. So it reads the screen for you.
One market event trips four different detectors, and a tool that announces all four is four sentences in eight seconds. The hard part of a voice is not finding things to say; it is shutting up.
A tool that goes quiet feels broken, so most of them never do. The result is a feed of signals, and a trader who takes trades because something said so.
What Sharpnel does
Everything the detectors notice goes into one place and a single line comes out: the most important fact leads, at most one supporting fact joins it, and only if it is about the same instrument seen a different way. Everything else is dropped and never mentioned late. One utterance every twenty seconds at most, one per instrument per minute.
If two of her reads point opposite ways she says so, and says it is a pass. I would rather you skipped a trade on her say-so than took one. She states what the data shows and never what to do about it: no predictions, no targets, no profit and loss, and where a level is concerned she will never tell you it is going to hold.
The terminal reads in ten languages and she speaks the ones her voice has been built for. If she cannot say a line in your language she stays quiet instead of switching to English.
After the close she says what happened to the walls she published that morning, in her own voice, as a twenty-second clip: the minute, the price, held or broke. It is on the levels page every day, so you can hear the product before you install it.
